The Department of Engineering and Public Policy (EPP) is moving into Wean Hall in order to create a centralized space for the department. EPP is renovating and updating the fourth and fifth floors to better support collaboration among faculty and students.

The new space will create a stronger sense of community in EPP by bringing together faculty, staff, and students in one identifiable area on campus. Previously, the department did not have enough space to be all together in one building, so parts of EPP could be found on opposite ends of campus in Baker Hall and Hamburg Hall. This space will become EPP’s home at Carnegie Mellon University: a place where everyone from prospective students to alumni will come to visit.

A major goal of the renovation is to increase collaboration between EPP students and those across the college and university. In a field that is by nature very collaborative, it is important to have shared and flexible 6 workspaces for faculty and students. EPP is the leading academic department in the world that combines deep technical analysis with modern social science and policy analysis to address problems in technology and public policy.
